Possibilism refers to the belief that the environment does not limit the choices available to the individual. Only the individual is responsible for his actions and has the authority to make decisions within certain limits. Simply put, Possibilism denies that environmental factors have any influence on human life. David Le Da Blanche, a French Geographer, was the first to propose Possibilism. He said that the environment doesn’t define culture, but it limits the choices people can make. Environmental Possibilism was introduced in 1950 and replaced environmental Determinism.
