National Geographic Internships offers professional learning experiences for students studying Geography. There are only a few 12-week internships available. Geography interns are junior or senior undergraduates or graduate students who major in geography or cartography. Interns can be placed in a variety of National Geographic divisions such as N.G. Education and N.G. Magazine, N.G. Maps, and N.G. Channels.

Field Internship: This Professional Learning Experience is for students majoring in Geography. This program allows students to use the knowledge and techniques they have learned in class to publish or to work on other geographical outreach projects at the National Geographic Internships Society Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

 An internship can be done in the USA (Washington, D.C.).
Eligibility For future reference, applicants must:
 -Geography and cartography majors in good standing (no exceptions).
 -U.S. residents (no exceptions)
 You may apply as a junior, senior, or master’s student at the time of your application.
 Geography Intern Program – Applicants should be:
 Students in geography and cartography as junior or senior undergraduates or graduate students at the time of applying
 Students who are well-rounded and have many interests and work experience.
 Students who are self-motivated and have strong organizational and research skills.
 Students who can communicate effectively in writing and speech
 Students who can communicate with all levels of management.
 Students who are able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Internship Available for International Students: U.S. applicants can apply for this internship program.
This is a paid internship. This internship program is unpaid.

The National Geographic Society’s Geography Intern program was established in 1981 to provide qualified students with an educational experience. More than 800 students from universities and colleges, including seniors and master’s degree holders, have taken part in the program for over 30 years. They worked on various projects that aimed to increase and spread geographic knowledge.
There are a few internships.

 -Application requirements. Candidates must attach the following documents to their online application.
 -A 200 word or less cover letter should be addressed to “To Whom It May Concern.”
 -A complete resume includes the following: extracurricular activities, awards, recognition, employment history, and a list of specific skills like software or language proficiency.
 -A 500-word essay describing the experiences that lead to formal training in geography. It should also include their professional goals and explain why they would like to be a National Geographic Geography Intern Program participant.
 -Up-to-date unofficial college transcripts.
 Additional Materials Requirement
 -Three letters of recommendation must be sent to 72******237@d***6.com before the application deadline from the following:
 -Name of the applicant’s academic advisor or department chair
 -Geography faculty member with which the applicant has been affiliated, and
 -One reference professional of the applicant, not from the department.
