About Western Union Global Scholars Program

W.U. Scholars was established to give young people a chance at a better future. According to the Western Union Foundation, education is the best way to achieve economic success. People all around the globe can climb the economic ladder by pursuing education to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for 21st-century careers.

The Foundation will offer two scholarships as part of its overall program. The first is an evolution of the WU Scholars program that targets international students from low-income countries studying in Australia, Canada, and Europe. It’s open to international students from all over the world.

The second is a renewal of our Project Finish Line initiative. It was launched last year in partnership with Western Union’s Black Advisory Council to support BIPOC students studying in the U.S.A., primarily from historically black colleges and universities in various STEM and business areas.

The Western Union Foundation has teamed up with the Institute for International Education to accept nominations and select awardees. I.I.E. will get nominations for the 2021 W.U. Scholars Program through October 15th. Students must nominate a representative of their higher education institution to invite them to apply for formal admission.
