2. Ima Hogg Scholarships
State Restrictions: Texas-based graduate programs in social work are only allowed to recommend students.
Description: The Ima Hogg Foundation offers scholarships for students enrolled in Texas-accredited social work programs. The dean or director must recommend applicants. They must also demonstrate a commitment to mental health services for underrepresented or underserved communities in Texas.
3. Jane B. Aron Doctoral Fellowship
Amount: Varies $17,900
Description: Social Work HEALS is a partnership between the NASW & CSWE that provides a grant for one deserving doctoral fellow. Candidates must write a dissertation on health policy and practice. Diversity components are encouraged. The award amount will include $15,500 to the recipient’s university and an additional $2,000. This money can be used for conferences or leadership development.
4. Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund
Amount: Up to $15,000
Description: The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund offers grants for social work students who are actively involved in the peace, justice, and the improvement of American life. These scholarships are available to students who have demonstrated academic ability and are active in progressive movements on campus and in their community. The amount and circumstances of each award will determine the exact amount.
5. Patty Gibbs-Wahlberg Scholarship
Amount: $1,000, $2,000, and $3,000
Description: The Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Work presents the Patty-Gibbswahlberg Scholarship. It is for student scholarship, leadership, and service. The first prize winner will also be able to travel all expenses for a conference where they can present their work to the Association of Baccalaureate Programme Directors.
6. Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America Leadership Grant
Amount: $4,000 — $25,000
Description: The Sons of Italy Foundation and over 650 state and regional lodges have provided scholarships totaling nearly $61,000,000 to U.S citizens of Italian descent (at minimum one grandparent from Italy or Italy) to students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs at four-year accredited academic institutions during the fall term. Past SIF scholarship recipients are not eligible. Specific scholarships may have additional eligibility requirements.
7. The Verne LaMarr Lyons Memorial Scholarship
Amount: Up to $5,000.
Description: This scholarship is offered for one academic year by the National Association of Social Workers to a Master of Social Work candidate. He demonstrates an interest in or has had experience in the health/mental health practice and is committed to working in the African American community.
8. Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)
Description: Student must be Hispanic and have a minimum 3.0-grade point average. The student must be either a U.S. citizen, a legal permanent resident, or a student pursuing a full-time degree at a four-year university. Each scholarship or grant from the HSF may have additional requirements. Both undergraduate and graduate students can apply for scholarships.
9. The Point Foundation
Description: This scholarship for masters in social work offers financial support, mentoring, and hope for deserving students who have been marginalized because of their sexual orientation, gender expression, or gender identity. All LGBTQ students are eligible to apply, regardless of their education level.
10. Consuelo W. Gosnell Memorial Scholarship
Description: Up to 10 scholarships worth up to $4,000 each will be awarded to master’s students in social work who show an affinity or commitment to working alongside the Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native populations. Students must be a member of NASW and have been accepted to an MSW program.
